Governor Patrick today at FEMA press conference: "I have signed an executive order banning vehicle traffic effective at 4pm today."
The Hyannis Youth and Community Center will be closed all day Saturday February 9. The building will repopen Sunday February 10 at 7:00 a.m.
Jonah Shea's No Limit Basketball program is cancelled on Saturday.
The Cape Cod Mall is closing at 2 p.m.
10:38 a.m.:
Sandwich High School will open as an emergency shelter today at 3 p.m.
Regional (Pet Friendly) Shelters are scheduled to open at 3 p.m. today: Dennis/Yarmouth High School and Nauset High School.
Eastern Bank will close at noon today.
9:11 a.m.:
All Barnstable courts will close today at noon.
All Barstable Recreation programs are cancelled today and Saturday.
Hy-Line Cruises cancelled the 9:10 am from Hyannis and the 10:35 am from Nantucket are cancelled due to the winds.
Hy-Line Cruises cancelled the Grey Lady through Sat. 2/9/13. They hope to resume service on Sun. 2/10/13.
Thursday, Feb. 7-
4:34 p.m.:
All Barnstable Public Schools will have early dismissal Friday and will follow a half day schedule. Afterschool, evening and weekend activities have been cancelled.
Cape Cod Community College is closed Friday and will remain closed Saturday February 9 and Sunday February 10.
Massachusetts Maritime Academy will close at noon Friday and reopen Monday morning.
The Barnstable Senior Center has cancelled transportation and Adult Supportive Day for Friday.
12:20 p.m.:
The town of Barnstable Department of Public Works is activating a multiple phase approach for storm preparation. The town is currently notifying staff, re-supplying materials and monitoring the storm’s path. Department of Public Works Director Mark Ells said they will begin treating roadways and will be ready to begin plowing when the snow hits Friday evening. Ells recommends residents prepare for the storm by having supplies ready in the event of a power outage.
Important Supplies include flashlights with spare batteries, a battery-operated radio or TV, First-aid kit and medications, canned, freeze-dried or dehydrated foods, a manual can opener, bottled water, baby or pet supplies, and important phone numbers.
