A 29-year-old woman contacted Barnstable police after spotting what she believed was a camera hidden in the floor of a tanning booth at Sunsational Tanning in Hyannis, according to a press release.
The woman told police a male employee in his late forties directed her to the booth.
Police set up surveillance outside Sunsational Tanning and allegedly spotted the suspected employee set up a cell phone camera in a changing room. Officer Roy Ricci entered the tanning salon and retrieved the phone belonging to Luis Carlos Macedo. Ricci also discovered a peep-hole in the room, concealed by an advertisement.
When questioned Macedo, 47 of Mashpee, admitted to videotaping females with a cell phone or camera. Police found 21 inappropriate videos on Macedo’s phone.
Macedo was charged with two counts of secretly video recording or photographing nudity or partial nudity.
