Anthony Scarano, 51, of Sayreville, NJ was charged with one count of the sexual exploitation of a child, according to a press release.
The charge stems from an investigation completed by the Cape Cod Computer Crime Unit and Federal investigators. The investigation was launched after the teen’s foster mother found disturbing images on the teen’s cell phone in November, according to the Cape Cod Times.
During the investigation the Cape Cod Computer Crime Unit allegedly found dozens of explicit photos and videos on the phone.
The victim told police she met Scarano in an online chat room.
A search warrant was executed at Scarano’s home in February. During the search, Scarano allegedly admitted to sending and receiving the photos and videos.
Scarano was arraigned Monday and will remain in U.S. Marshal custody. He will be back in court March 22.
