Barnstable police began an investigation into activity at an apartment complex at 24 Betty’s Pond Rd. about a month ago, according to a press release. During the investigation police allege they conducted several undercover purchases.
While staking out the apartment complex March 20 Barnstable police detectives interrupted an apparent drug deal. Police say Marcel Young, 35, of Yarmouth handed two bags of heroin to Norman Chausse, 54, of Hyannis who was sitting in his vehicle.
After searching Young police say they also found 5 bags of cocaine, 3 cell phones and more than $500 in cash.
Young was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to distribute. Chausse was arrested for possession of heroin. Both men were arraigned in Barnstable District Court Thursday. Young was held on $10,000 bail.
Another investigation into the heroin trade came to fruition Thursday when police executed a search warrant at 185 Stevens St. Apt. 2A in Hyannis. To obtain the warrant police conducted several undercover buys over a period of three months.
During the raid police seized over a half a pound of marijuana, which was packaged for sale, a loaded .40 caliber pistol, and about $2,400 in cash from the apartment.
Jeremy Robinson, 24, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and being an armed career criminal. Robinson, who is currently under indictment in Barnstable Superior Court for possession of class B with intent to distribute (second offense), was arraigned in Barnstable District Court this morning and held on 20K bail.
Brandon Simpkins, 27, of Hyannis was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (second offense). Simpkins was recently released early from a 5 to 6 year sentence for selling cocaine because of the state’s drug lab scandal. Simpkins was also arraigned this morning in Barnstable District Court and was held on $2,500 bail.
