The Green Lotus is opening at 10 a.m. today in space formerly occupied by La Petite France.
The café will feature vegan, vegetarian, raw and gluten-free cuisine. Owner Nate Fanara said the restaurant will fill a gap in the area.
“There are no restaurants that do what I am doing. There’s a huge amount of people that eat vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free food,” Fanara said.
Fanara has worked hard over the last three months getting the location ready along with three staffers that stayed on from La Petite France.
Fanara is dedicating the restaurant to his father, John Fanara Jr., who passed away three years ago from pancreatic cancer.
The Green Lotus will serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
