One employee was working at Swimming Pool and Spa Sales at 12 Enterprise Rd. Sunday when the fire broke out at about 3:58 p.m. The employee called for help and quickly got himself out of harms way.
He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation after having some trouble breathing. He did not have any other major injuries.
Fire crews from the Hyannis, Barnstable, West Barnstable, Yarmouth, and Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills assisted in knocking down the blaze.
Once the fire was under control crews noticed a chemical smell and milky water coming from the building and called a state hazmat team in to help.
The hazmat team will look at the water run off and meet with the building’s owners to get an understanding of what the clean up will entail.
Hyannis Deputy Fire Chief Dean Melanson said the spa company was totaled with heavy fire damage on both floors. Two neighboring business, Vehicle Vibes and Great Island Tattoo sustained smoke damage.
The fire does not appear suspicious and is under investigation.
