Hyannis Fire Department Lieutenant and FEMA Squad Officer Thomas Kenney with Greg Crawford and a NYC Fire Chief stand on "the pile" at Ground Zero. "I remember getting off the bus being the squad officer," said Kenney. "The ground had a gray dust that was almost like the first snow you get in New England, so light you could take a broom and sweep it away. That's what it was like, but it was three to four inches deep. Everywhere you stepped, a cloud of dust would go up around you."

September 11 touched the lives of many people living on the Cape and Martha's Vineyard. On Martha's Vineyard, a young man from Parwan, Afghanistan recounts what it was like to watch on TV from his home province the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York; in Falmouth, a New York City native remembers the horror of that day and in Hyannis, a firefighter discusses being part of the search and rescue effort from Massachusetts.
