The Barnstable Municipal Airport has a new addition - a banner listing the 135 names of military personnel with ties to Cape Cod killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

At its unveiling yesterday afternoon, Gold Star father Steven Xiarhos said the banner hangs in an appropriate spot, “where my son came home for the last time.”

The banner will remain on display at least until the arrival of the Tribute Flight next summer. That flight features a plane bearing the names of all the fallen in the recent war. It will visit every state in the country, including a touch-down at Barnstable.

“These are not victims,” Xiarhos said gesturing to the banner over his head, “but warriors.”
