Recently, what might be a great white shark was spotted off Barnstable. This time the man who spotted the shark, Jeffrey Richardson of Sandwich, was three miles off shore tuna fishing from a boat, according to www.wcvb.com.

The last confirmed great white shark siting happened on July 30, 2012, when Christopher Meyers was attacked by a shark while swimming at Ballston Beach in Truro.

Massachusetts shark expert Greg Skomal has reviewed photos of the shark taken by Richardson and told WCVB.com, "We are pretty confident that it is a great white shark. We do not have many sightings from Cape Cod Bay.”

Yet, Skomal still needs to review the video to declare it a great white.

On Cape Cod, the Cape Cod Shark Hunters have been keeping track of shark sitings around the Cape and offer a tip sheet on how to identify a great white.
