Former State Treasurer, Norfolk County Treasurer and gubernatorial candidate Tim Cahill has agreed to pay a $100,000 fine, which will end the commonwealth’s corruption case against the Quincy resident.
Cahill will pay $25,000 a year out of his personal funds. CBS Boston reported that Cahill will not be able to run for office until he pays the fine.
Attorney General Martha Coakley charged the former state treasurer with spending $1.5 million on lottery ads during his gubernatorial campaign in 2010. A trial on the charges ended in a hung jury last year. By paying the fine, he will not be retried.
