On Sunday, May 5, 2013 at approximately 10:57PM and again at 11:46PM members of the Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Force and Detective Division responded to two separate and believed to be related armed home invasions inSouth Yarmouth.
The fist one occurred on Howes Road and the second one occurred on Bryar Lane. In both attacks—three masked men, each armed with handguns—entered the homes looking for known individuals with a history of involvement in illegal drugs.
During the second invasion one of the suspects fired a shot into the ceiling.
In both attacks no one was physically injured.
Suspects fled the area and despite the efforts of a massive search which included numerous Yarmouth Police Officers and a Yarmouth Police K9 Officer Unit no one was located.
These crimes are not random and are directly related to the statewide problem of the use and distribution of illegal drugs.
These crimes are actively and aggressively being investigated and members of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit are assisting in the investigation.
