Update 12:15pm: Oliver Cipollini wins the Democratic Primary for Governor's Council District 1 by a nose.
Cipollini, with 34 percent or 16,848 votes, edged out second runner up Nicholas Bernierby 142 votes. Bernier, also with 34 percent, has 16,706 votes.
Walter Moniz received 16,231 votes or 33 percent.
Oliver Cipollini (D.) of Barnstable leads in the primary race for District 1 Governor's Council. As of Friday morning, the election is too close to call, until all precincts have reported.
His brother Charles Cipollini (R.) of Fall River ran unopposed in the Republican primary for the District 1 seat.
Should Oliver win Thursday's primary, he will square off against Charles in the Nov. 6 election. This would not be the first time the two brothers ran against each other for Governor's Council. The two competed for the seat in 2010, with the Republican brother winning.
District 1 includes Cape Cod, the Islands, and Plymouth and Bristol counties.
Cipollini has 16,734 votes or 34 percent, leading Nicholas Bernier of Swansea and Walter Moniz of New Bedford, both with 33 percent of the vote.
