Barnstable voters went to the polls in higher numbers than the state average of 15 percent.
“We had a 20 percent turnout,” Town Clerk Linda Hutchennder said. “We’ve had higher results before. I wish it was higher this time.”
Voters participate less in primary elections than in general elections. Voters will go to the polls for the general election election Tuesday, Nov. 6. Unregistered citizens have until Wednesday, Oct. 17 to register to vote.
The clerk’s office experienced no problems at the 13 precincts around town.
“We did fine,” Hutchennder said.
